TAN TA RA is the new Techno/Electronic record label from Gez "G-Man/LFO" Varley & Edzy Unique 3.
The label's name "TAN TA RA" is taken from a track title on LFO's seminal album: "Frequencies", released on Warp Records in 1991
Tan Ta Ra Records uses the head of The Carnyx as a logo. The Carnyx was a Celtic iron age instrument used in warfare, to incite troops to battle and intimidate opponents.
"Tantara" is a shortening of the Latin "taratantara". An onomatopoetic word, which in ancient times, evoked the terrible sound of the war-trumpet or hunting cry.
When the word "tantara" was used by Humphrey Gifford in 1580, the sound it evoked was a merry one. "Tantara, tantara, the trumpets sound, / Which makes our hearte with joy abound," he wrote.
